There has been a lot of conversation of recognizing some of older Innova molds. Some of them are almost identical. Like original Roc and Hammer, which are basically impossible to recognize without stamp or good personal knowledge, or Ontario Hammer and first run Dolphin that are exactly same mold. Here are some of them put together side by side.

Aero was retooled a bit in 1988. In 1996 it was retooled again to be closer to the original Aero. ”Classic” Aero has little higher profile with a bit more curved bevel.
-
-
Original version of the Gzelle came out too understable, so Innova retooled the mold soon, new mold had a bead. Gazelle was retooled again in around 1998, wing became less curved and bead was taken of. This is the mold that was used on KC pro Gazelles and in legendary proto CE Gazelle.

These are original large diameter molds of Roc and Hammer. Molds look almost the same but feel different in hand. Hammer has a very low inner rim compared to Roc. Hammer also has most of it’s weight on the center of the flight plate, making it a very slow flyer. Roc has a thick rim compared to Hammer and flies much faster.
-
-
Here you can see the difference between Original small diameter Roc and Original small diameter Hammer. HAMMER has no period after CA, ROC has a period after CA. Other mold markings are identical and mold itself is identical.
-
-
Original Roc and Orignal Hammer. both small diameter, both San Marino. Molds are identical to eye. Hammer might be a bit higher ( but picture makes it too high ). Without stamps these to are very hard to identify. There is actually only one way. Mold marking is little different. Roc has the period after CA, Hammer does not. ( See the other picture )

These are both PDGA approved under same name… They are completely different molds and they even have different diameters.
-
-
There was a small run of original mold Hammers made in 1994. They were all red in color and molded in softer plastic than original brick hard Hammers from 1988. Mold marking on the bottom are waint in 1994 model and there is also period after CA unlike in the older ones.
-
-
These were approved under same name, though Hammerhead is completely different mold and flies more under stable.
-
-
Hammerhead is loosely based on large diameter San Marino Hammer. Hammerhead is molded in completely different type of plastic and is way softer than Hammer.
-
-
Compared to San Marino, Ontario Hammer has no bead and it’s rim is a bit wider. Also bottom mold markings will show you which mold your Hammer is.
-
-
These are no way close to each others. But these are both PDGA approved under same name.
-
-
Hammerhead is closer to San Marino Hammer, so it is pretty easy to recognize these two. Hammerhead is also molded in softer and more grippier type of plastic.
-
-
Ontari Hammer is same disc than first run Dolphin. Name was changed from Hammer to Dolphin in 1994.
-
-
Original mold of Dolphin is actually 3rd. generation Hammer. This mold was used only at first run and in a very limited test run of glow and Uv plastic Dolphins. Retooled mold was even more more under stable.
-
-
Lynx and Condor are basically identical. Lynx is a bit higher and has a huge dome.
-
-
Second version of the XD was almost the same as first. Only little bit of more concavity on rim and little higher rim to make it more stable
-
-
Original Aviar XD was beadles and molded in very brittle plastic. Ontario mold is currently produced mold with micro bead
-
-
Ram is a bit faster and more over stable. Clearest difference is Rams wider rim.
-
-
Original RAM is extremely over stable, retooled version has more glide and less stability
-
-
These are actually very similar. Polecat has a smaller diameter and it is a bit lower than Birdie.
-
-
Python was supposed to be over stable version of Gazelle, but it became very understable. Mold was soon retooled with less curved bevel to make it more stable.
-
-
These are pretty easy to recognize because original mold has so huge dome while retooled one is almost board flat.
-
-
Polecat is way lower than original Birdie. Birdies top was lowered later but it’s still a lot higher than Polecat
-
-
Moray has a bit larger diameter than Panther.
-
-
Moray is based on Stingray. Moray has blunter nose.
-
-
Again easiest way is diameter. Piranha is small and Gopher big. Gopher is 22.9 cm and Piranha 21.2 cm.
-
-
Easiest way to recognize these is that Jaguar is much larger than Barracuda. Jags diameter is 24,1 cm while Barracuda is only 22,5 cm.
